BIO
Kaarle Strailey is a Ph.D. student in interdisciplinary studies housed in the Mechanical Engineering Department. His research contributes to ACEP鈥檚 Tom Marsik鈥檚 active vacuum insulation project. Strailey鈥檚 efforts are primarily focused on technological research and development, building on the work he performed in pursuit of an interdisciplinary M.S. he completed in May 2025.
For the 20 years prior to graduate school, Strailey鈥檚 career path meandered through ecological research, state and tribal fish, wildlife and habitat agencies, alternative energy projects, river and mountain guiding, and policy development and advocacy. Repeated encounters with energy problems underlying challenges across these fields ignited a passion for developing solutions and the midlife career change that he is currently undertaking. He lives in Palmer, Alaska and enjoys time with his family, especially in nature.
